Whenever I log on to the net and search for something, my attention is drawn to search results with pictures than just plain blogs or articles. Keeping this in mind, many online marketers have taken the support on Pinterest to promote their business or company. Pinterest is a social media site where you find various types of images that people share from all across the globe. Users make boards, which have images related to the topic of the boards.
As pictures are eye-catching, an account on Pinterest can be a great way to build a wide audience as followers. However, it has been noticed that people aren’t drawn to your profile unless you make an effort to make them want to follow your board, pins and profile. If you want more people to visit your profile and take a look at your boards and pins then here are a few ways how you can interest them:
Promote your boards individually
You must’ve noticed that many are not interested in visiting profiles, frankly speaking, even I’m not, but if there is a board that catches my eye and is related to my interest, I will definitely follow the person who has pinned the board, to see whether their profile has any more interesting images. So, by promoting your profile by boards, you will definitely draw more attention.

Re-pinning images, moderately, can actually increase the importance and visibility of your profile. However, re-pin pictures that interest you or are relevant to the topics of your boards. Also, try and tag other users in the description of images while promoting. This will increase your reach as you are adding the names of other people and organizations. Commenting on others’ images, can also help increase visitors and followers. Leave meaningful messages or else people will think you’re simply spamming.
Following other users
To attract followers to your profile, you must start by following others. Once you start following people on a constant basis, there are hopes of some following you back. This way, you can slowly and steadily, gain more followers. However, make sure that you don’t follow users at random. You must choose well so that you get interesting content to re-pin on your board that is similar in context.
Add the Pinterest follow button on your website
This button will simply divert the people who visit your website to your Pinterest page. This way, you can attract many followers. This will be even more effective if the traffic of your website is high. The button can be added to your blog and website, at convenient spots like the sidebar, header or footer.
Connect your Pinterest page to other social networks
Another smart move will be to connect your Twitter and Facebook account to your Pinterest page. This way, you can redirect your friends from these networking sites to your Pinterest profile. Your pins can therefore be tweeted and will automatically appear on your Facebook news feed, for all your connections and their friends to see.
Be regular at pinning
Make sure you spend some time on Pinterest, on a regular basis, pinning images on your board, commenting on and re-pinning others’ images. This way, the chances of others seeing your pins will increase, hence increasing followers.

There is nothing more attractive than fresh, original images. If you pin images that no one has seen before you will automatically attract other pinners to your images. And if the images are interesting enough, you will have more followers.
These are a few techniques you can try to increase the number of followers on Pinterest. You have to be patient and keep at it, as nothing can be achieved or changed overnight.
