With social media ruling our lives, our smartphones also seem to be flooded with social media apps. With Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, Snapchat, Foursquare, Google+, Pinterest, etc. eating up half the space on your smartphone, do you possibly have room for another application that will connect you with the world socially? Well, this is a question that has various answers and it varies from person to person, but most tech freaks can never get enough of social media applications on their phones.
The newly christened Facebook App
Keeping this in mind, Facebook has created a new application called ‘Paper’. It was launched on the February 3, 2014. For the time being it has been launched only for iOS users. This application was created over nine months by Facebook Creative Labs and according to a few it is an imaginative reinterpretation of Facebook. This app allows the users to generate new stories with text, photos and videos in a WYSIWYG editor.
Users, therefore, can create content and present it in the form of a magazine of sorts. These posts will be more long lasting and users will get to view them for as long as they want. The User Interface will not be cluttered with too many buttons, and users will be able to ‘flip’ through the stories with a swipe or ‘tilt’ of the phone. The navigation of the app is, therefore, extremely simple.
Using the App outside the US
Do you want to use this app? Don’t worry, you will also get the chance to use this. ‘Paper’ is a free app, so you will not face any hassle to use it. It is easier for you to get the app outside the US. Follow these steps:
- On your iOS device, go to the App Store
- Scroll down to the bottom of the display
- Tap on “Apple ID: (your email here)”
- Then, tap on “View Apple ID”
- After that, enter your password
- Then, locate the section that keeps record of your location and tap on “Change country or region”
- Change the country to the United States
- In the place where it asks for payment information, just click on ‘None’ as Paper is a free app
- Once, you’ve done this, you get access to the US App Store. Download the App and then switch back to your country
The new Paper App by Facebook, meant for iOS users, allows you to share your stories on a social platform. However, as it has been launched only few days ago, it is too early to conclude anything about the app and its performance.
